Living in Texas for 12 years shaped Venessa Carpenter’s heart and soul, and it profoundly influenced her personal and artistic development. With a rich family background of ranchers engaged in raising oxen, logging, and moonshine production, she views music as an essential means of honoring and sharing her history and heritage. The correspondence between her great-grandparents serves as a significant source of inspiration for Venessa’s songwriting. She is grateful for the numerous mentors who have guided her throughout her musical journey. Venessa is the recipient of this year’s Buck Ramsey scholarship.
