About me
Jack Malotte, a Western Shoshone and Washoe artist, combines wry humor with serious subjects, rethinking historical narratives and myths of the American West. His work explores the landscapes of the Great Basin and contemporary Native political issues, focusing on environmental and legal struggles to protect Native lands. Jack has designed graphics and illustrations for organizations like the Seventh Generation Fund for Indigenous Peoples, Inc., the Western Shoshone Sacred Lands Association, and the Southwest Network for Environmental and Economic Justice. A graduate of the California College of Arts and Crafts, he was influenced by artists like Chuck Close, Jack Mendenhall, and Arthur Okamura. Jack’s work has been exhibited in prominent museums across the West.
