About me
Dakota Holdaway is a storyteller and poet out of Nephi, Utah. His introduction to the cowboy lifestyle began like many before him—on the back of a horse or mule, with his father and friends, in the mountains and deserts surrounding his home. He learned many of life’s lessons and values navigating the diverse terrain, hunting, packing, breaking horses and mules, and herding livestock. Drawn to the rich cowboy legacy of poetry and storytelling, Dakota uses the same medium to share his own experiences. At 25, he founded the Juab Cowboy Poetry Gathering, while working, writing, reciting, and still making time to start a few young horses. Dakota’s goal with his poetry is to share and create community with all those who might enjoy or relate to his way of life.
